Ten companies comprised the 12th Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia: five from Boston, one from North Bridgewater, one from Abington, one from Weymouth, one from Stoughton, and one from Gloucester. After organization was completed, the regiment was ordered to Fort Warren in Boston Harbor. Resident of Webster (later Sabattus), Me.; family lived at the Jesse Davis homestead ca. 1948. Jesse Davis was born in Acton, Mass., and later became resident of Webster, Me.; he was nephew of Dr. Jonathan Davis, who was a grantee of the Plymouth Company in the area of Webster.
